About Me

Why I love mentoring?

Hi! I'm Ruqaiya,
a human rights professional, Oxford graduate and a passionate mentor

My mentorship journey began in 2018, while I was still in law school. The first person I mentored was preparing for a Model United Nations conference. After seeing the impact I had on her, I realised not only that I loved mentoring, but that I had a unique way of doing it — one that built confidence, sharpened critical thinking, and helped people truly understand their goals and potential.

I use a tailored capacity-building method based on your personal story to bring you clarity towards your vision.

In 2023, I formalised my mentorship through my Topmate profile, focusing on university and career guidance in human rights and adjacent fields. The turning point came after I received an unconditional offer and full scholarship from the University of Oxford, awarded to only two candidates each year for their potential to lead high-impact careers. That recognition gave my mentees even more trust in my guidance — and with that trust came results.

Many of my mentees have gone on to receive offers from top universities such as Oxford, Cambridge, LSE, SOAS, and Glasgow.

I’ve also advised applicants to Oxford’s Bonavero Institute of Human Rights, serving as a career panelist for human rights career talks at Oxford, and speaking at events that support emerging professionals in the field.

Today, I’m expanding my mentorship to support students and early-career professionals not just in India, but around the world. I bring lived experience of working in 3 countries, insight into the UK job market, different migration systems, and an understanding of what top universities and employers are looking for.

This project remains intentionally small and personal. I only take on a limited number of mentees at a time so I can offer deep, tailored support — not a cookie-cutter service. This is not a business built on volume, but on impact. I mentor because I love it, and because I believe in helping people step into their potential with clarity, confidence, and purpose.

If you’re looking for thoughtful, strategic mentorship — not just to get into a university or job, but to understand yourself better — I’d love to support your journey.

Let’s build something meaningful together.

Why work with me?

My mentoring style has evolved into what I now call capacity-building mentorship. I don’t hand out answers. Instead, I ask the right questions, offer tools and frameworks, and work with you to uncover your “why.” Whether it’s a personal statement, CV, job application, or major career decision, my approach is always the same: helping you express yourself clearly, confidently, and strategically — on your terms.

My mentees have gained clarity about who they are and what they want to do. Again and again, mentees have told me that after our sessions, they finally understood their direction — whether academically, professionally, or personally.
